Kate Lehman Landishaw's first "proper" art lessons were her 8th birthday gift from her artist father & poet mother - including a trolley pass to ride downtown to the Art Institute of Chicago on Saturday mornings. Serious studies continued in college. Since then, even while pretending to pursue a business career, there was never a home that didn't have studio space and/or paint splatters on the kitchen floor. Kate was affiliated with Al Ford's Gallery East in Boston, with her distinctive large oils. Atelier 564, in Newton, MA, mounted her first solo show.
A fortuitous trip to Paris early in 2008 changed Kate's style dramatically, to drawing, working to capture the feeling of sheltering trees in a small parc there. In October, 2009, Kate's work from a new multi-layered Urban Composition Series was awarded Best of Show in the Trillium Art Centre's juried show. Most recently these multi-layered "stagescapes" were exhibited in a solo show at Jonal Gallery, Columbia, PA, as "Places I Want to Be".
Kate is an active member of Women's Caucus for Art in Atlanta, GA, participating in most of the group's shows. Her work is always available through and on exhibit at Art & Light Gallery in The Pendleton District, Greenville, SC.
